How to reach: To reach the tidal bench marks from the intersection of U.S. Highway 21 and Bay Street in Beaufort, proceed south on U.S. Highway 21 for 1.4 km (0.9 mi) to Meridian Road (S-7-36), turn right on Meridian Road and go south for 1.21 km (0.75 mi) to Rue Dubois (a winding dirt road), turn left on Rue Dubois and go 0.89 km (0.55 mi) to another dirt road, turn right on the dirt road and go 0.40 km (0.25 mi) to a fork in the road, take the right fork for 0.40 km (0.25 mi) to its end. The bench marks are located along a narrow dirt road leading to a 23 m (75 ft) long pier on Distant Island Creek. The tide gage and staff were located at the end of the pier.
